Two seized cars of the SPLM-DC still in the hands of NBGH authorities
(11/03/2010, SPLM-DC) The two cars of the SPLM-DC which were seized by SPLA forces in Northern Bahr El Ghazal at Tomkeo are still in the hands of Northern Bahr El Ghazal authorities.
The SPLA released the detained 5 members of the SPLM-DC and they were taken to Aweil town. But then the Security forces in Aweil belonging to the Governor’s office now says they want the documents for these cars before they are released completely to our members of the SPLM-DC. All the papers, however, were seized by SPLA forces as well as all the personal items including clothes, shoes, mobile phone, laptop, money and documents.
The security forces in Aweil say they cannot handover the cars to our members until the papers are produced while SPLA hand seized all documents at the same time. The Governor’s office claims to have arrested the SPLA officer in charge of Tomteo so that he can tell where his forces put all the personal properties of the SPLM-DC members plus the documents. Mr. Dii Deng Dii, the campaigner
manager to GoSS candidate Dr. Lam Akol, in Northern Bahr El Ghazal says the SPLA soldiers also made away with his laptop.
Hence the case of the SPLM-DC cars is now in limbo with the Police and Security forces saying they need the cars documents while the SPLA commanders says they do not know where they are. The only solution seems to get copies from Khartoum but with one of the cars which is still in good condition being used even by the Governor’s office for SPLM Elections campaign, one begins to wonder whether the SPLM-DC will ever get the cars again in time for Elections.
