SPLM-DC members arrested and Detained In R.D -Yambio outskirt

By SPLM-DC Info-de... - Posted on 14 September 2009

(14/09/2009, SPLM-DC) SPLM-DC members are reported to have been arrested and detained today 13th September, 2009 by SPLM security organ in Yambio outskirts at R.D.

Of the many SPLM-DC members who came from Yambio to attend SPLM-DC General Congress in Khartoum, eighteen of them aboarded a bus from Juba heading to Yambio. They have been arrested and detained in an illegal manner . These innocent citizens including the bus crews have been stopped , led and closed in a hideous room leaving the bus by the Maridi-Yambio road side in R.D Yambio.WES becoming a potential lawless area under the current regime as the governor herself has shamefully switched off both of her phones.

SPLM security organ are said to be interrogating these members to extract unfounded information from them in manner beyond comprehension. The eighteen SPLM-DC members are kept in that inhumane state in a pretext that the bus owners had not obtained proper pass to move from Yambio to Juba and back to Yambio.
It is obvious that such allegation is baseless as no law asks for collective punishment when a mistake was done by one or two people who run the bus and travel procedures.

SPLM-DC leadership condemns this act in the strongest term and asks for immediate release of these innocent citizens. They have not in any form broken any law. Joining a party other than the SPLM should not be portrayed or leveled as crime by SPLM authorities in order to reverse the aspired direction to Genuine Change in all aspects of the innocent citizens' lives back to live by what they have already abandoned for good.
