PRESS RELEASE FOR RETRIVING SPLM-DC MPs’ IMMUNITY.
(05/09/2010, SPLM-DC) We would like to congratulate all the SPLM-DC membership in the Sudan and in Diaspora for the retrieval of the immunity of the SPLM-DC MPs in the south Sudan Legislative Assembly(SSLA) on 31st August 2010.
SPLM-DC also extends heart felt gratitude to all those who stood by truth and righteousness to defeat wickedness and impulse of diabolic crave. The gratitude goes to H.E. Justice John Luk Jok and his staff, Honorable SSLA members who supported the course of justice.
The conspiracy which started with the internal memo from caretaker minister of interior Major Gen. Gier Chuang to Michael Makuai asking for what he titled quote “ legal advice on measures to take against SPLM-DC.It is alleged that SPLM-DC is behind the incident and a case has been opened in Malakal against SPLM-DC members” this was on (24/5/2010).
When did the law begin to take action on allegations? It is only at the time of Gier Chuang and Makuai.
The caretaker minister of Legal Affairs responded immediately the second day(25/5/2010) by writing to the speaker of SSLA. The D/speaker of SSLA was asked the same day to table the motion on 26/5/2010. Leading to lifting the immunity of the members.
It is very clear the way this process was mate to mature at a rocket speed as if it was an emergency related to security of the state.
A lot of theories were raised in spite of the illegality that the culprit had not been caught;
1.This is not the only killing that took place in the south to acquire a prompt attention of both ministers whose affiliation is clear read against the background of the Collo un happiness over the grabbed land, thus retaliatory punitive measures are well considered in this conspiracy.
2. First time in five years the two ministries would take great interest as if no police officers were killed in Yambio whose fate are not known till to day, Patients who were killed on hospital beds in Bor no investigations were conducted.
3. Recent killing of intelligence officer in Bor nothing had been done about it. So many incidents went unnoticed in the south, Why much dust on this one?
The New minister of legal affairs and constitutional development with good use of law had to dismiss the case because of no sufficient evidences. A party as such can not kill a person as was desired by those who use the case for political victimization of a political institution with no link to the incident.
SPLM-DC, has members in unknown custodies in Upper Nile State. We want the law to cover all southern Sudan.
