(26/08/2009, SPLM-DC) SPLM-DC is happy to announce to the public that on 22nd August 2009, the SPLM-DC received two executive members of the Umma Party offices in Juba.
The two former Umma party members Mr. Taban Alfred Lemi, the
chairman, and Mr. William Minga Timatheus, the secretary, had arrived recently in Khartoum to announce to the leadership of the SPLM-DC leadership their defection from the UMMA party and to join SPLM-DC. The former chairman of the Umma Party office in Juba announced that he and ten other executive members of the Umma Party, Juba office, had effectively closed the Umma Party office they were running in Juba for Southern Sudan and decided to come and join SPLM-DC as they now believe SPLM-DC is the party for democracy and change and able to deliver a government based on transparent and accountability and provide service to the people.

They told the Acting Secretary of the SPLM-DC that they are also bringing along twenty other ordinary Umma party members.
With this defection the SPLM-DC is now overwhelmed by the number of people who are defection from other parties to join the SPLM-DC just as the party is heading towards its Founding Congress which will take place from 31st August to 2dn September at the Friendship Palace Hall in Khartoum.
SPLM-DC is the party for democracy and change and it is the only party that can deliver the manifesto and ideals that was once propagated under late leader Dr John Garang until the SPLM was hijacked by people who never wanted to serve the nation but themselves.

The SPLM-DC is always happy to welcome all the Sudanese people who want change and democracy into the party so that we work together to build a democratic ,just and equality party which will deliver the CPA through the remaining months of the terms of the agreement and deliver peace, security and development to
all corners of the Sudan.
