Dr. Lam Akol welcomes preliminary refrendum results

(01/02/2011, SPLM-DC) The Chairman of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – Democratic Change (SPLM-DC) party, Lam Akol, welcomed the preliminary results of the Self-determination referendum in Southern Sudan. Speaking to Radio Miraya, Akol said that it is important to live up to the aspirations of the people.

However, he called on the people of Southern Sudan to maintain a strong with North Sudan. Lam Akol also said that he contacted the President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, to review the composition of the Constitutional Review Commission.

Members of the SPLM-DC are not included in the review commission, he added. Akol told Radio Miraya that Kiir has assured him to review the commission.
